The Quabbin is a large water reservoir in central Massachusetts. In order to keep the water clean, a good deal of habitat is preserved surrounding the lake. I spent the better part of a day wandering the trails and hiked up a nearby mountain. The most amusing part of the day is when a grouse ran out of the woods and chased me down the trail.
There are good views of the hills and a couple of common snakes, a garter and a ringneck.
I stopped along the way to enjoy some scenery, an indigo bunting, and a pheasant.
And the highlight of the day was the Quabbin itself and seeing a grouse, spotted sandpiper, and a porcupine sleep in a tree. Unfortunately, the video I thought I took of the grouse chasing me did not save, but all in all a good day.
